Our desktops have evolved a lot in the last couple of years, with enhanced features and improved dimensions. Computers which were earlier developed for research purposes found their place in commercial centres and slowly found their place in our homes. The desktop or the personal computer (PC) is now a new person to hang out with in your own house. The PC has also altered in its size and has reduced a more potable piece known as the laptop and latest sensation we hear is the notebook.
Most of the evolution that has taken place in your PC or notebook is only to make your work easier. The alterations in the overall look of your workstation are incomplete if it doesn’t suit your needs. Although many of us are aware of Bluetooth devices, there are very few who have actually explored the products with Bluetooth features. A Bluetooth enabled mouse, headset and many such products to make your workstation wireless. Upgrading of the software as the nature of work is a known fact, however accessorizing it is yet to catch up. (more…)

Couple of months ago I went gold shopping with my Mother and we landed in this huge gold showroom which was newly inaugurated in the heart of the city of Kochi in Kerala. Well we did some shopping and while collecting the bill we received a huge packet containing a six-metre traditional Kasav saree. To begin with Kasav sarees over the years have evolved both in style, colour palettes and much more. However, the traditional ones are still in demand and are worn on all auspicious occasions especially on Onam by Keralites. I enquired with my Mother out of curiosity, why did the shop owners give such an expensive saree for such a small purchase that we made here.
My Mother replied, “This is a new store of Alapatt Heritage and to generate goodwill and attract customers is on their mind as of now”. Another gold store nearby called Malabar Gold was giving out packets of Payasam mix and a vacuum flask to all those who make a purchase from their store. Onam was around the corner and most retailers had a smile on their faces as this is the auspicious occasion for many of their customers to buy gold and other utilities. (more…)

A place where you would spend most of the time in a day or any given day must be idyllic and suit your taste or else living in could be more of a compromise than a choice. Hence these days home décor and office interiors are carefully conceptualized to meet the requirements like utility and budget and also the moods of the individual who would eventually inhabit it.
Wall papers have been around for decades now, but they have taken on a better form as on today. You can take pictures of your choice and share them with the interior designer or a vendor you trust who would be able to develop it into scenery on your favorite wall and there you have your personal touch that would eventually help you bond emotionally to the place. Many of us do not spend time sitting as couch potatoes in front of the television sets, perhaps many of us are not so very tech-savvy to be glued to the computers as geeks. So the question for advertisers’ is how we reach out to people who are constantly moving and traveling through their work.
There is a great deal of detail and research that follows before a product is designed and launched into the market. The most important aspect of this research is to find the target audience of the product whenever and wherever it is launched. It is this target group which will purchase the good or service, hence advertising that product would require the communication strategy to envelope the entire region where the buyers of this product are concentrated. How many times we have gone to the supermarket, looked at the entire range of brands for a particular product and opted for that particular good simply because of its packaging. I’m sure there are many who must have made that choice based on the outlook of the packaged product.
Introducing a product in the market requires a lot of study simply to begin its manufacturing based on its demand in the society. Once you have the product manufactured, begins another process of how to sell it. Packaging and launching the product becomes the integral part of marketing and communication. An attractive exterior is a must so that the product stands out while on display. Its branding is cautiously worked upon by advertisement gurus and marketing professionals jointly. One thing remains unsaid although premeditated is that, whatever communication of the product goes to the media or the masses must have the branding of the product in it. (more…)

The strong and explicit branding of PETA, an NGO which believes in fighting for animal rights and vegetarianism has managed to strip many top notch actors and models to promote its cause and beliefs. The advertisements definitely turn heads irrespective of the fact whether they manage to change the minds of the on-looker. Branding has taken a whole new level as on today.
The hoarding on the busy traffic signals of the highways, signboards, newspaper front pages to the notebook covers; all of them have it on them. Many promoting some or the other cause or an initiative. Several promotional mugs and bags are available with the branding on the organisation or the event and most of them are for sale. (more…)

If you have recently noticed a hoarding while riding your vehicle on the freeway that claims “Choose me, Choose good Governance” and felt strange about that new face with such a bold statement, then you are not the first to think that way. Posters and banners have always been a prominent tool of marketing a new candidate to its voters.
Hoardings with candidates sporting their sparkling whites and best wardrobes are hoping to captivate public imagination and thereby getting their vote. Charm is one way to easily sway your way into minds of the public. Perhaps this old school mentality has still kept the going easy for many new aspirants who wish to rule the roost. A lot of money is generally pumped in for the purpose of communication and also networking to publicize a candidate. There is a budget allocated specially for this purpose as the party that supports the candidate finds sources through its loyal corporate and other supporters for its promotional campaign. (more…)

Whether its Leonardo DiCaprio or Barack Obama everywhere the buzz word seems to be going green. Actors and politicians have managed to garner public attention and votes by basking in the glory of doing good by saving the world from global warming.
Global warming still remains a debated topic in the scientific community and the politicians who claim that there isn’t enough proof to support the validity of global warming due to unregulated anthropogenic activities. Then there is another section of scientists who claim to be sure about the phenomenon and the consequences of global warming. This bunch of scientist has changed the world around by numerous summits and conferences and has come up with protocols which are now being reframed to accommodate developed nations. Like it or not, as on today global warming is an official threat. (more…)

While shopping for perfumes to gift someone special most of us would opt for the best. But when there is a dent created by the prize of that perfume bag in your savings, there is no way you would escape the pinch. If you notice around most of the high-end malls have perfume stalls within and almost all of them stock up freebies. But you have to claim them by literally asking them that on the purchase of an X amount for Y number of perfume cases or bags; I want my well deserved share of a gift.
Imagine asking for a gift, but you could actually end up getting one. I don’t know how many of you have actually tried it at any perfume outlets. But you can always ask for it as if it were your birth right. And if you get lucky, you might get a mirror by Escada or a small travel bag. Here a promotional item that you have demanded may actually bring you back to the same outlet again for a similar purchase in the near future. (more…)

For those who serve the giant corporate are quite familiar with the idea of corporate gifting. Gifts and presents are a sweet of saying you are special and important to us, that is the general idea behind gifting people. Corporate have also adopted this age old technique of making personnel feel special by giving them gifts for their contribution to a project and or the company.
The feel good factor is a momentary thing and will last as long as the moment does but will certainly leave memories for the person to look back and relive the moment again. The moment when people around him made an effort to make him feel important.
The most popular corporate gifts are gift vouchers or cash vouchers of a nice branded outlet, paid family holidays to a tourist spot, bonus. Most of these are to compliment a person on his contribution to a project or for handling a dicey situation in the office. A gift is a sweet gesture to make the employee feel at home and will then eventually develop an emotional bond with his employer, his work and the company. (more…)
